Last Updated: October 28, 2025

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes the policies and procedures of Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD ("the Company," "We," "Us," or "Our") on the collection, use, and disclosure of Your information when You use our services. This includes our website (the "Website") and our mobile applications and software (the "Apps" or "Software").

We use Your data to provide and improve our services. By using our Website or Apps, You agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect and How We Collect It

The information we collect varies depending on whether you are using our Website or our Apps.

a) When You Use Our Website

Data You Provide Directly: Some data is collected when you provide it to us, for example, by filling out a contact form. This may include your name and email address.

Data Collected Automatically: Our IT systems automatically collect technical data when you visit our Website. This includes:

  • Server Log Files: Information your browser transmits, such as browser type/version, operating system, referrer URL, host name, time of the request, and IP address.
  • Cookies: We use small text files called cookies to make our Website more user-friendly, efficient, and secure. Most are "session cookies" that are deleted after your visit, while others may remain to recognize your browser on a subsequent visit. You can manage cookies in your browser settings.

b) When You Use Our Mobile Apps

Game Data (Stored Locally on Your Device): To save your progress and preferences, our Apps store data directly on your device. This data includes your game progress, high scores, and in-game settings. This information is not transmitted to our servers and remains on your device.

Compliance Data (e.g., Date of Birth): To comply with legal and platform policies (such as the Google Play Families Policy), our Apps may implement an age verification screen. If present, this screen collects your Date of Birth, which is stored locally on your device. This information is not transmitted to us and is used solely to configure in-app services (like advertising) appropriately for your age.

Advertising and Analytics Data (Collected by Google AdMob): Our Apps are supported by advertisements provided by our partner, Google AdMob. To function and provide relevant ads, the AdMob Software Development Kit (SDK) integrated into our Apps automatically collects certain information, including:

  • Google Advertising ID: A unique, user-resettable ID for advertising.
  • IP Address: Used to estimate your general location.
  • Device Information: Such as your device model, operating system, and mobile network information.
  • Interaction Data: Information about how you interact with ads shown within the App.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the data we collect for various purposes:

  • To provide, maintain, and improve our Website and Apps.
  • To save your game progress and preferences within our Apps.
  • To show relevant advertisements to support the development of our free-to-play Apps.
  • To respond to your inquiries submitted via our contact form.
  • To ensure the security and proper functioning of our services.

4. Third-Party Services & Advertising (Google AdMob)

Our Apps use Google AdMob to display third-party advertisements. This service helps us to keep our games free. AdMob uses your device's Advertising ID to serve ads that may be relevant to your interests. We do not share your personal game data with Google AdMob.

For more information on how Google collects and uses data, please review Google's Privacy & Terms page.

5. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD respects your rights regarding your personal data. Depending on your location, you may have the following rights:

  • The right to access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
  • The right to rectification: You have the right to request that we correct any information you believe is inaccurate or complete information you believe is incomplete.
  • The right to erasure (Right to be Forgotten): You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to data portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

How to Exercise Your Rights:

  • For Website Data: You can contact us at any time using the details in the "Contact Us" section on our website to exercise these rights.
  • For Mobile App Data: We provide simple, direct tools for you to manage your data:
    • Deleting Your Game Data: In each App's settings menu or under edit Profile, you will find a "Delete Data", "Delete Profile" or "Delete" button. Using this button will permanently erase all local game data we control, such as your save files and high scores.
    • Resetting Your Advertising Profile: We do not control the advertising data collected by Google. To delete or reset your advertising profile, you must do so in your device's system settings. For Android devices, navigate to Settings > Privacy > Ads and select "Reset advertising ID" or "Delete advertising ID." This action provides you with control over your advertising profile across all applications on your device.

6. Legal Basis for Processing Data (for EEA/UK Users)

If you are from the European Economic Area (EEA) or the UK, our legal basis for collecting and using the personal information described in this policy is "Legitimate Interest" in order to operate and provide our services, and "Consent" where required for specific processing activities like advertising personalization, which you can control as described above.

7. Information for South African Residents (POPIA)

Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD is compliant with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Your rights under POPIA are protected, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have not complied with the law.

8. Children's Privacy and Age Verification

Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD is committed to providing a safe experience for all users and designs its Apps to comply with the Google Play Families Policy. Protecting the privacy of children is especially important to us. Our services are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under theage of 13 (or the relevant age of digital consent in your country).

To enforce this, our Apps implement an age verification screen (an "age wall") upon first launch. This mechanism requires users to confirm their age before they can proceed.

  • If a user indicates they are under the age of 13: We will either block access to the service or take steps to ensure compliance with applicable laws, such as the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). This includes instructing our advertising partners (Google AdMob) to treat all ad requests from that user as "child-directed." This disables interest-based advertising and prevents the collection of persistent personal identifiers for tracking purposes.
  • If a user indicates they are 13 or older: The standard data collection and advertising practices described in this policy will apply.

If you are a parent or guardian and you are aware that your child has provided us with personal data without your consent, we urge you to take immediate action. You can remove this data by following the steps outlined in Section 5 of this policy under "How to Exercise Your Rights." These steps will guide you through deleting local game data from the App and resetting the device's Advertising ID.

9. Data Security

We take the protection of your data seriously and use commercially acceptable means to protect it. However, please note that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

10. "As Is" Service and Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the services provided by Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD are provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," with all faults and defects without warranty of any kind.

In no event shall Kilobyte Media (PTY) LTD, its directors, employees, or affiliates be liable for any special, incidental, indirect, or consequential damages whatsoever (including, but not limited to, damages for loss of profits, loss of data or other information, for business interruption, for personal injury, or loss of privacy) arising out of or in any way related to the use of or inability to use the Website or Apps.

11. Governing Law and Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy and your use of our services shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in South Africa to resolve any legal matter arising from this policy.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
